Tax Jailings and Closure of Ballymount Bin Collection Depot Today: WE
NOTE the refuse bin collection service in South Dublin is not on today
because trade union bin workers responded to a major residents' protest
which was held in opposition to the jailing of six residents by the
High Court yesterday and to the new policy of non-collection of taxpayers'
bins because they are boycotting the bin tax.

courts are not in a position to call alleged murderers to account
but the High Court this morning could send six innocent residents
from south Dublin to jail for three weeks and fine them very heavily.
Their crime was to participate in a two hour, entirely peaceful protest
against the decision of South Dublin County Council to leave uncollected
the refuse bins of thousands of householders boycotting the bin tax.

COUNCILS and the Government have jailed 15 people to intimidate and
frighten residents into giving up their campaign against the bin tax.
The blockades at the bin depots on Tuesday and Wednesday shows that
they have failed. The campaign to end non-collection and to force
the Councils to collect all bins will continue.
