Belfast Port, Derry Airport – FOR SALE

The Socialist

Belfast Port, worth £1 billion, has a huge for sale sign placed on it. Gordon Brown announced during the recent US-NI Investment conference that 100% of money raised from the sale of public assets would be retained by the Assembly as a one off payment.

While in Derry it has been announced that the Airport would “inevitably” be sold off. This should be a good deal for a private company as Belfast City Airport is now being resold for treble the price the government initially sold it for.

US-NI Conference:  "You can tell an Assembly by their friends"

The Socialist

As the saying goes you can tell a person by their friends. At the special session entitled “Why Northern Ireland, Why now?” key note speakers included John Spangler of Seagate – who last year closed down their Limavady plant with the loss of over 900 jobs for the area after taking £12million in government cash.

And Tony O’Reilly one of the richest men in Ireland who doesn’t pay tax on his $1.8 billion fortune. These are the type of people the Assembly politicians want to set up shop in Northern Ireland!
