Socialist Youth is affiliated to the International Socialist Resistance (ISR). ISR is an independent democratic anti Capitalist international group run by young people. ISR is organised to give Young people across the world the opportunity to fight back against Capitalism, and works to unite the working class and oppressed people against global capitalism and to fight for a socialist world.

ISR is a new international anti-capitalist youth organisation with groups being built across the world, such as in Belgium, Germany, Sweden, France, Greece Northern and Southern Ireland and also in countries outside of Europe such as Nigeria, Brazil, CIS (Russia, Ukraine etc) and Australia.

ISR was initiated by the Committee for a Workers International (CWI) last year and was launched as an independent democratic organisationat the ISR founding conference in Brussels on December 15th 2001, with over 500 young people attending from many of the countries named above. This took place the day after the anti-capitalist demonstration in Brussels, on which ISR had over 1,000 people on our contingent. The most important way of building ISR is through local campaigns. The main campaign of ISR internationally was against Bush and Blair's war on Iraq, which all areas were campaigning on. Other campaigns are being built such as against education cuts, low pay and campaigns for better youth facilities or campaigns on the environment etc. The main thing is to have regular days of action, involving as many people as possible and have regular meetings to discuss campaigns and subjects members are wanting to know more about - eg: Che Guevara, campaigning against education cuts, what is socialism etc. If you have any ideas on this and / or want help in setting up an ISR group in your area please get in touch.
